The practical component is conducted at Kinchant Dam on designated Saturdays. We post these dates on our Facebook page. Kinchant Dam is located approximately 35 kilometres west of Mackay in the beautiful and scenic Pioneer Valley. We chose this location for our practicals because it allows our clients to operate our boat in a much safer environment which is not greatly affected by weather. Our clients who reside in the hinterland and Sarina also find this location more convenient. The feedback I have received over the past thirty years from those clients who reside in Mackay has been very positive. They like Kinchant Dam for their practical venue as it gets them away from the hustle and bustle of Mackay and they love the amazing, picturesque scenery as well as the 30-minute leisurely drive along the Peak Downs Highway
The venue also allows our clients to mingle with other boats so they can practice the collision regulations. Kinchant Dam is very much preferred as a skiing venue by Mackay and Hinterland residents. The dam normally has low boat and Jet Ski traffic on a Saturday
To get to Kinchant Dam:
- Travel west from Mackay through Walkerston on the Peak Downs Highway.
- Turn right off the Peak Downs Highway just before Eton onto the North Eton Road.
- Once at North Eton follow the signs to the dam.
When you arrive at the dam keep to the left and follow the road around to the boat ramp. I will be set up near the boat ramp. You will see my business banner on display. Please wear suitable clothing for the activity e.g., sun safe clothing if hot and sunny, warm clothing for cooler weather and a rain coat for wet weather.
